A council bylaw bungle has left Queenstown Lakes at risk of becoming a freedom camping free-for-all this summer.
Bans in key areas such as central Queenstown, Wanaka, Arrowtown and Lake Hayes will be unenforceable if the council cannot get a replacement bylaw in place before Christmas.
Queenstown Water Ferries will stop operating after failing to get public funding, but the Otago Regional Council says it is still considering providing funds.
What do you think? Does Queenstown need a public ferry service and should it be subsidised by the regional council? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
