Covid-19: Several A&P shows fall victim to alert level uncertainty

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

New Zealand’s popular A&P shows, considered by many to be a Kiwi institution, are falling like a house of cards due to Covid-19 alert level uncertainty.

North Canterbury’s Rangiora A&P Show, the Hawke’s Bay A&P Show, and the Gisborne A&P show were all cancelled on Wednesday, following the cancellation of the Clevedon, Waikato, and Wairarapa shows – as well as the South Canterbury Spring Horse Show – in recent days.

For Canterbury’s Northern A&P Association, this will be the second consecutive year their Rangiora show, scheduled for Labour Weekend, has been unable to go ahead.

The South Island’s level 2 restrictions will remain in place while Auckland is at level 3, and the committee said the uncertainty made it too risky for them to incur any more costs.

The committee was working to find out whether some sections of the show may be able to go ahead under level 2 rules.

They said they would let people know, and contact people who had already entered, as soon as possible.

Dog sitter wanted

Sylvia from Kaiapoi

Hi there peoples sometime ago Hubby and I with our golden labrador who is nine Maxi, was talking to somebody in coffee culture now it could have been over a year ago just wondered if you are out there or does anybody else take on dog sitting in their home? We are off overseas for four weeks and end July to end August our usual home based doggy sitter is unable to help us during this time. Maxi is very placid and laid back she is the first dog to roll over, lie on her back and say … you can be the boss! LOL Maxi is not really an outside dog she sleeps inside our house bus with us and is with us all the time as we are now retired. appreciate anybody who loves dogs. Will have a few play dates before we go and that way you can be happy if you volunteer and so can we, there will be some payment compensation.
Regards Sylvia
