TELL US WHAT YOU WANT IN A COMMUNITY HUB IN WAIKANAE!
Terisa Ngobi, Sophie Handford and I had such a good discussion this week about Waikanae and its needs, and I would love to hear your views too -
While the replacement Waikanae Library is being redesigned, we have probably three years during which we do not have a community hub in the heart of Waikanae that you all can feel welcome in, apart from the Cameo rooms in Mahara Place –
They are a unique space in the town centre, ideal for smaller community groups to meet; for new groups to start up; for people to learn new things (currently card games and music but we are looking at all sorts of things) and – always – for people to pop in when they are passing or waiting for a train or bus and just want to put their feet up.
So tell us what you would like to see in a community hub – an internet connection so that we can have computers available for people to use or learn to use in this digitally demanding world?
Our JPs come every Tuesday morning, but would you also like to see a Citizens Advice volunteer available once a week? Age Concern?
Tell us what you think!
I don’t know this gentleman, I am just posting this here, in effort to help the family involved.
Waikanae East locals are watching anxiously to see if the excavations will include an underpass from their now completely gridlocked suburb now the new subdivisions in Huia Street and Winara Avenue are fully occupied.....
I have a need for a used, but functioning desktop PC. Doesn't even need any drives, just a case & fan, CPU and motherboard.
Happy to collect mid-late December anywhere in Kapiti.
