Fundraising stall targeted by thieves

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

The Belfast Kaiapoi Rotary Club is dismayed thieves are targeting a roadside stall it uses to raise funds for local charities.

In the first 36 hours, only 12 of the 26 boxes taken from the club's Island Rd stall, near Kaiapoi, were paid for.

Club president Peter Prattley said the potatoes were grown, harvested and packed by the club's members, and all proceeds went to local charities.

"While we are doing our best to identify the culprits our members would appreciate if those who took potatoes without paying would now return with the required $5 per 2kg box."
