Tom Reilly took a chance on a local homeless man, Matty Harris, and gave him a job in his cafe and art space in Titirangi. As a result, Matty has found a sense of purpose and rediscovered his passion for art. “Tom has taken me as I am and given me opportunities that no-one else would. It would be good if kindness like that was contagious.”

In this update, GeoNet advises that "the level of volcanic tremor continues to rise and there is medium likelihood of future eruptive activity in the next 24 hours. The Volcanic Alert Level remains at Level 3." Also, there is "an extremely low likelihood of any effects from the eruption on the mainland."

Preparatory work has begun on what will be one of the longest bridges in Hamilton.
WEL Networks started relocating power lines on Tuesday to allow for construction of a bridge over the Waikato River to the Peacocke housing development.
