Reach Out * Look Out * Help Out

Maree Dunlop from Top of the South Neighbourhood Support

3 WAYS TO CONNECT WITH YOUR NEIGHBOURS…

• Reach Out - Wave, say ‘Kia Ora!’ or introduce yourself. Welcome new residents to your street when they move in.
• Look Out Help keep your community safe by looking out for your neighbours. If something doesn’t look right let them know or get help if needed.
• Help Out Share any surplus from your garden or fruit trees. Offer to take the rubbish out for someone who needs a hand. Take time to have a chat with someone who lives alone.

There are many ways you can make a difference in your community!

Neighbours that know each other are more likely to offer assistance, accept and ask for help when they need it.

Let’s build a stronger Aotearoa by staying more connected.

Tahunanui Playground Project 2024

Yvonne from Stoke

The Nelson Host Lions Club was formed in 1962. One of our first projects was the initial construction of the Tahunanui Playground.
This has been added to and well-used by generations of young Nelson People.
Last Year, the first item built at the playground, the concrete train was removed after it was damaged and no longer fit for purpose. There was a lot of concern and discussion from the local community over this removal.
Our Lions Club is pleased to advise that we are ready to begin on the replacement train. It will be wooden this time as this is more durable and user-friendly. This will be a joint build with the help of the MenzShed Waimea. The NCC is also on board with approval and assistance.
In order to have Community involvement and ownership in the project it has been suggested that we open a GIVE-A-LITTLE page. This is being organised by the Tahunanui Business & Citizen Assn. Any assistance we can get will be appreciated and will go to the improvement of the playground. President Paul Mine: Nelson Host Lions
