My Nice Neighbour nomination
I want to nominate my neighbour Raewyn McLeod. I'm a single mum with two little kids (aged 4 and 7). When I moved to Toi Toi a few years ago, it was a pretty rough period in my life and all my family live half way around the world so I didn't/don't have family support here in NZ. Raewyn is one of the most friendly, lovely and helpful neighbours ever. She's been a single mum in the past and so she completely gets it. She's been the most amazing support. Everything from teaching me about how to fix simple plumbing issues and using power tools to home reno advice to watching my little one when I had to take my older son to A&E one evening. Her door is always open to me and my kids for a chat and a cuppa or some cheese and crackers or other little goodies for the kids. She's also an amazing gardener who runs her own gardening business, so she's always happy to help with advice and we've got a pretty healthy little gardening swap network set up in our neighbourhood sharing produce, seedlings and plants....its been an absolute joy and blessing to have such an amazingly kind and supportive neighbour!! And she helps so many people with so many things- so I know there are plenty of others who have been touched by her kindness as well. Just one of those down to earth, good sorts. It's people like Raewyn that make this neighbourhood such a lovely place to live.
Poll: Are Kiwis bad drivers?
Each country has its own idiosyncrasies when it comes to driving and New Zealand is no different.
With daily near-misses, people incorrectly indicating at roundabouts and a lack of stopping at stop signs, it begs the question: Are Kiwis actually not that good at driving?
Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
