Beware the Freedom Market!

Eric from Motueka

Hi all, you may not be aware but today there were 9 cases of covid found in Motueka today (link below, 1 reported today, 8 for tomorrow). This means covid is here and we all need to be vaccinated, wear masks, and scan as appropriate. There's one group not doing this however.
That's the "freedom" market that has been running at the Nelson A&P showgrounds. This week they are coming back to Riwaka to take advantage of a location on the main road to Kaiteriteri. So they'll have heaps of tourists interacting with them.
Most of the vendors have "mask-exemptions", they don't enforce customer mask wearing for retail (which they officially count as), and they don't obey health codes for close contact business requiring vaccine passports.
They are begging to become a super-spreader event in our community and endangering us all, especially our elderly. So make sure you get boosted as soon as you can and stay safe by avoiding this place.
Hopefully the authorities will enforce the rules more strictly now, but it's up to all of us as individuals to not interact with anti-vaxxer or others that are endangering us by being selfish. Warn your friends and families. Please get tested if you are at all unwell, the testing centre at the rec centre is open again.
Cheers,
Eric
