Private audio recording service a modern take on documenting history
When North Canterbury's Jess Davidson started the Smile and Pod podcast a year ago, her aim was to inspire regular folk with stories from successful New Zealanders.
She began reminiscing about her grandfather, the stories he would tell her as a child, and more importantly how he would tell them – his humour and his turns of phrase.
After leaving her job in December, the former television and radio host started In My Own Words, a private recording service for people to leave their story for others to hear.
It could be recording a eulogy, a best man's speech, or a grandparent reading books to overseas grandchildren, and is especially pertinent in today’s Covid-19 travel-restricted world.
Say goodbye to tyre waste
About 40% of the 6.5 million tyres Kiwis use every year are recycled, repurposed, or used as tyre-derived fuel. But the rest end up in landfills, stockpiled or dumped.
The good news is now there’s an easy solution to all that tyre waste. It’s called Tyrewise and is New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme.
Tyrewise ensures that tyres in Aotearoa New Zealand are recycled or repurposed properly, saving millions from going to the landfill.
