Three recycling truck fires in three weeks in Auckland
Hi neighbours, Auckland Council has issued a warning to residents about disposing hazardous waste proper after three recycling trucks in Ōtara, Lynfield and Sunnynook. Gas cooker canisters or lighter fluid cans may have been responsible for one of the fires. Another led to 6 tonnes of recyclable material going to landfill. The story below has some tips for people who aren't sure how to dispose of products including paint, gas cylinders and batteries.
