Bevis, a resident at Ryman’s Anthony Wilding Village, recently received a gentleman’s makeover. The day began at the barbershop where Bevis and his barber Kohl shared plenty of laughs. Next up, a personal stylist helped Bevis select clothes he looked and felt great in. Being pampered isn’t the norm for Bevis but based on his smile, we’re confident he loved every minute.

A warning has been issued not to collect or eat shellfish caught from the Northland west coast. This applies to the non-commercial (recreational and traditional) taking of shellfish only.

This applies to the non-commercial (recreational and traditional) taking of shellfish only.
Ingesting shellfish with this toxic algae present will cause a range of symptoms from tingling around your face and hands, to vomiting, paralysis, respiratory failure and in severe cases, death.
Those affected can phone Healthline for advice on 0800 611 116 or seek medical attention immediately, ensuring you keep any remaining shellfish for testing.
The areas affected include Waipapakauri on 90 Mile Beach, south to Pouto Point on the northern head of the Kaipara Harbour as well as Herekino, Whangape and Hokianga Harbours.
The Ministry of Primary Industries are urging residents to spread the word and you can find more information at the link below.

At the October 17 election, New Zealanders will have the opportunity to choose their regional spokesperson.
Through the Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) voting system, those enrolled can vote for the party they want as well as a local representative.
Why does my MP matter?
The person elected will be the voice for your region in Parliament. If you’re having trouble getting entitlements or dealing with Government departments, they can help. If your community needs funding for certain projects or activities, or there isn’t enough healthcare in the area, the elected MP can step in and help.
