Neighbourly's Good News

Tk from Taradale

I’m teaching my nine year old daughter about kindness and looking out for people in our neighbourhood. She has a brother with autism super powers and life can be tough for her so I try to teach her about giving back to others as I know for me personally it makes me feel great inside.

We are often gifted things especially from our neighbours because people know how difficult things can be for our family at times. I often come home to find bags of things kindly placed on our doorstep.

I have a huge garden, as Garden therapy helps me so much with my family, is my calm happy place where I go when I’m feeling stressed. my daughter often heads off around our street weekly with deliveries of fresh produce and or preserves for our neighbours. We love to surprise them by leaving it in their mailbox or on their doorstep. We also both love to bake and we always take baking to our direct neighbours. This is great as I love to share baking with our neighbours and it saves me from eating it all up myself.

My sons deputy principal at the special school he attends lives down our street to. Since lockdown we do letterbox secret drops with each other. My kids love checking the mail five times a day to find secrets surprises from Ange she’s a beautiful soul.

Teaching my kids about looking out for others especially those who may be ill or elderly, kindness the greatest gift you can teach your kids

Your favourite ever summer holiday

Lorna Thornber Reporter from Stuff Travel

Hi everyone,
Now that summer's finally here and the holidays are just around the corner for many, we'd love to hear about your favourite summer holiday memories. Has there been a trip that you continue to think about years later? Where did you go, with who and what did you get up to? What made it such a stand-out experience? As usual, please put 'NFP' in your comment if you don't want it included in a travel article. Cheers.
