The steering committee supported by the Waikato District Council staff have just achieved two major grants for the facility.
Trust Waikato has announced that it has granted $210,000 for the building of the facility and the WEL Energy Trust has today announced that it is granting $80,000 towards the facility. When combined with the Waikato District Council grant of $250,000 and the $20,000 already raised by the community, fund raising currently stands at $560,000.
So its time to celebrate and join in the fund raising. A meeting of the WRRA fund raising committee is being held this Sunday at 2pm at the Village Cafe and all interested persons are encouraged to attend. Councillor Noel Smith, a member of the steering committee said 'It is fantastic news for the community and hopefully the Lotteries Grants Board will also be as supportive when they receive an application from the steering committee".
Non-urgent patients are asked not to show up at Hamilton's emergency department unless they have a health emergency.
Waikato Hospital is so full that some non-urgent surgery is being postponed. People who are unwell but don't need to go to ED can visit their GP, local urgent care centre, or call Healthline 0800 611 116.
Those who need immediate or urgent help should dial 111, or go straight to the Waikato Hospital Emergency Department.
Hi Neighbours, could you imagine cows floating down the Waikato River?
These cows are floating on Europe's largest port, in another effort to make cattle farming more sustainable. The owners call it the world's first 'floating farm'. It's in Rotterdam and they want it to minimize waste and land use, and also bring food production closer to the city.
