Sign up for The Antidote: 5 happy things to read about each day

The Team Reporter from Stuff

Hi neighbours,

We live in unusual times. It all gets a bit much some days. So we're bringing you a much-needed dose of positivity to remind you that there's inspiration, kindness and quirkiness out there too.

You can check out today's edition of The Antidote - which features a cute puppy, the UK's longest-married couple, and Stewart Island's "savage" New Year's Eve here. If you'd like the Antidote delivered direct to your inbox, sign up here.

I'm looking for grazing for an elderly horse, preferably not too muddy over win. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Identifying unscrupulous building/painting contractors

John from Roslyn - Terrace End

I believe most contractors exhibit good levels of integrity however I have been made aware of one company in particular who purposely avoid written contracts, even when estimates exceed the mandatory $30,000 threshold, use non itemised invoicing heavily in the first half of jobs, price gouge with exorbitant markups, deliver substandard workmanship, fail to complete jobs and invariably leave clients high and dry.
I would be very interested to hear from anyone who may have had any such experiences.
