Harbour Cone Hike, Otago Peninsula.. TOMORROW

Fiona from Otago Peninsula

CELEBRATE the last day of Summer........by doing the 2021 Hereweka Harbour Cone Hike
(Sunday 28th February 2021) 😎

Have you always wanted to walk Harbour Cone but never got round to it?? Now's your chance to explore a part of the Otago Peninsula you may never have seen 😮

Registrations are ON THE DAY at the beginning of the Bacon Street Track, Broad Bay starting at 10am and closing at 11.30am. You will receive a guidemap to the area when you register.

It's a totally FREE event 😄

It's approximately a 6kms walk which allows you to take your time and enjoy the area (allow 2 to 2 1/2 hours). Visit some of the historic farmsteads, climb to the summit of Harbour Cone and be amazed by the incredible views. Visit Larnachs Model Farm and see the amazing restoration work at Smiths Creek.

You will need good walking shoes, suitable clothes for the conditions, plenty of water, lunch (although there is a FREE BBQ provided by HHCT, the Hereweka Harbour Cone Trust).

Because this is a working farm, please leave your dog at home.

Parking is available in the paddock adjacent to the start and public transport is available from Dunedin using the No 18 bus which stops in Turnbull's Bay, Broad Bay opposite Bacon Street. For those of you from across the harbour, there is a special ferry operating with Port to Port Cruises departing Back Beach, Port Chalmers at 09.30 am to Broad Bay wharf. It will save you the drive whilst supporting a local business 😊

The HHCT looks forward to seeing you TOMORROW 😎

Any queries please contact Fiona on 021 798 908

Who needs a plant doctor?

Mikaela Wilkes Reporter from Homed

Are your houseplants looking worse for wear? The experts at Kings Plant Barn would love to help. Send us your houseplant questions and problems to homed@stuff.co.nz, or leave them in the comments, for the houseplant doctor to diagnose. Pictures are encouraged.
