In Orewa on 11 August 2018, aged 91 years. Treasured wife of the late Hector Bethune of Taumarunui, mother of Eleanor Neil, the late Miriam Bethune, Rachel Coppens, Stuart Bethune and Kathryn Mercer, mother-in-law of David Neil and Anton Coppens, grandmother of Kate and Briarley Coppens. Sister of Ruth Darroch and Neil Douglas.
