Policeman with Tourette's takes virtual bike ride to help kids with the condition

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Northern Outlook

North Canterbury Sergeant Andy Norton initially didn’t think he’d be able to join the police force because of his condition, which manifests in physical tics.

He's now about to embark on a gruelling 24-hour bike ride to raise funds and awareness of the condition.

Norton is actively involved with Camp Twitch, an annual camp for children living with Tourette’s and their families.

“I want to let them know there is hope, that it doesn’t stop you achieving what you want to achieve.’’

He will start the 24-hour challenge at 7pm on August 14 using the virtual cycling platform Zwift to notch up the distance.
