My Resene Upcycling Award entry
I've been planning to upcycle this old desk for awhile now. The first thing I did was take off the bottom footboards and add timber to cover the length of the desk for both the bottom and the top of the cabinet. I used timber leftover from my brother who did some building. Next I added feet from a vintage cupboard that were broken so I just sawed those bits off and sanded them. I painted the cabinet resene gloss waterborne white. I sanded everything and took the drawers back to raw wood. Replaced the smaller middle drawer with one of the larger drawers adding some hardware I already had. Cut down some old bed slats to make a middle shelf. Made some doors and painted them and the middle cabinet a resene mistint, very close to the colour madras. Put chicken wire on the inside of the doors. Then tiled the top cause its going to be an extra bench/island in the kitchen.
