Learn to Sail at the Glendowie Boating Club

Craig Liddell from Glendowie Boating Club

The first Introduction to the Sailing Holiday Programme is now open for registrations for all sailors wanting to give sailing a go. Running from the 15-19th January, the GBC 5 day (half day, mornings) holiday programme is an excellent way to experience sailing and the beautiful waters of the Hauraki.
Sitting on the waters of the Tamaki River the Glendowie Boating Club offers an unsurpassed location for young sailors to try their hand at one of New Zealand’s corner stone sports. With a group of young and experienced coaches, Glendowie Boating Club graduates themselves, they will be taken through the YNZ Learn To Sail 1 course and come out having learnt all about the Optimist boat, the basics of sailing and increased confidence on the water
To sign up or for more information please head to our website (www.gbcyachting.org.nz...) or feel free to contact David Fehl (027 479 2192)

Traffic congestion on Kohimarama - St Johns roads

Jan from Kohimarama

Does anyone else find that the Felton Matthew lights have caused chaos on Kohimarama / St Johns roads? It now takes up to 20 minutes to make what should be a 6 minute journey to Glen Innes or Stonefields. The lights took long enough to be set up but now there is a constant logjam from St Heliers Bay Road through to Felton Matthew Ave. It is particularly exacerbated by location of the bus stops and by cars parked on the side of the road. Should we as a group be asking/telling the Council to get it sorted ?
