Do you empty your daily cup?

Owner from Balance for Life

You most likely, like myself shower everyday to wash off the stuff of the day to start off fresh and clean again. You brush your teeth and rinse your mouth after eating to maintain good oral health. It’s second nature to most of us you don’t even think about it.
But how many of us cleanse their minds every day?
How many of us wake up each day truely honouring the new day and your spirits needs?
How many Crash into the day by the noise of the alarm rushing into morning routine, grabbing the phone, reading up on the violent and depressing news? What do you feed your mind when it first awakens in the morning?
Are you aware that it has an influence on the rest of your day?
We absorb so many signals without even noticing... images, sounds, tensions, energies, suggestions...experiences.
When we wake up we wash off the grime of the previous day we would not think of going on with a dirty body but what about the psychic dirt and grime of the day.
Here a simple exercise in emptying your mental cup or a quick mind cleanse:
Find a location where you can be uninterrupted for just 5 min. Sit on a chair with both feet ( shoes off) on the ground. Close your eyes.
Notice the feeling of your feet against the ground making contact with the earth.
Then bring your awareness to the chair pushing up against you, holding you.
Notice where your hands are resting and how that feels. It might be the pressure or warmth... just notice.
Notice your breath ...just the way it is.
Depth, rhythm, sound...
Deepen the in and exhales adding a count of two. ( mentally counting 2 seconds).
Become very interested in your breath. Coming in to your nose and out through your nose. Notice the sensation around your nostrils during inhalation it might be slightly cooler and during exhalation slightly warmer as the stale air is leaving your body from within... every breath connects you within and to everything. Ever breath grounds you into the now.
Us humans we can only think of one thing at a time. If you focus on your breathing you are emptying your mind of all the stuff, the grime and dirt of the days.
You create clarity and stillness and like that one can make better decisions and choices. Also you signal to your body that you can relax at will and that everything is fine ... right now I am breathing , my feet are on the ground connected the the amazing energy of earth and I am just sitting here all is well.
This exercise/ meditation is very simple and only takes 5 min... but you can spend longer...:-) ... Do this every day either after waking or before bedtime or both...Whenever it suits but do it. The magic is in the doing!
With love
Gloria
