Covid-19 community cases spike with 75 new cases

Ripu Bhatia Reporter from East & Bays Courier

There are 74 new cases of Covid-19 in the community in Auckland and one in Wellington.

Director general of health Ashley Bloomfield said the latest bounce is not unexpected.

“It is clear on average daily cases are lower,” he said.

32 case are in hospital, and eight are in ICU with three on ventilators.

40 supermarkets have been added to places of interest in Auckland.

Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins said he encourages everyone to take up the opportunity to get vaccinated.

“The highest possibly uptake is the best way we can open up and stay there,” he said.

Poll: Are Kiwis bad drivers?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Each country has its own idiosyncrasies when it comes to driving and New Zealand is no different.
With daily near-misses, people incorrectly indicating at roundabouts and a lack of stopping at stop signs, it begs the question: Are Kiwis actually not that good at driving?

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
