Possible record low for voter turnout as 12pm deadline looms

Caroline Williams Reporter from Auckland Stuff

Only 31 per cent of people in New Zealand's biggest city have voted in the Local Body Elections, with polls set to close at midday.

As of Saturday morning, Auckland voter turnout was sitting at 31.48 per cent, which is 3.7 per cent lower than in 2016 and 1.7 per cent below 2013, which had the lowest ever turnout for an Auckland Council election.

Usually the last day of voting will add between two and three per cent, meaning this years election could fall short of the 2013 low of 35.2 per cent.

Click the link to read more and find out how to vote if you are yet to do so, but be quick - you only have until 12pm.
