Restraining small children out in public
I missed this conversation on "Toddler Reins" and which was reported in the Central Leader, Feb 14.
I am sorry that, in my opinion, the WISE parents who used this restraint only once before being told that this is NOT DONE in NZ were discouraged from this way of keeping a small child safe. It takes only a second for a small child to run onto a road or parking area outside a supermarket etc. isn't firmly holding the hand of a small child just as restraining? If a busy mother is already pushing a baby buggy, carrying bags etc, how else is she to keep control of a walking toddler?
Poll: Does the building consent process need to change?
We definitely need homes that are fit to live in but there are often frustrations when it comes to getting consent to modify your own home.
Do you think changes need made to the current process for building consent? Share your thoughts below.
