Nataliya and Family - The Minister has responded

Simon O'Connor from Simon O'Connor - MP for Tamaki

This afternoon I was able to go down and share the response from the Minister to my original letter asking for a review of Nataliya and her family's case. A 12 month extension has been granted to the family with an opportunity to re-apply for residence. So, as I said to Nataliya and her husband, it is a step forward. I was pleased to deliver the letter in person; it is something I always try to do with immigration cases like this so that I can talk through what has been written and continue to offer assistance going forward when needed.

Can I also say thank you to all the locals who have supported the family and will continue to do so. Your letters of support were very important, and going forward, will be needed again.

Were you at the St Heliers community meeting?

Mandy Te Reporter from East & Bays Courier

Hi neighbours, hundreds of people expected Auckland Transport to be at the St Heliers and Glendowie residents' association meeting. Many locals are upset at the road safety proposal. However, Auckland Transport's chief executive said it would not speak, citing a "hostile" group. What are your thoughts on the situation? Should AT have gone to the meeting?

Please add NP if you do not wish for your comment to be in print.

ANZAC Day - important changes locally

Simon O'Connor from Simon O'Connor - MP for Tamaki

Hello everyone. I have just been made aware of important news about ANZAC Day events in our electorate:

The St Heliers parade and civic service has been cancelled.

The Orakei RSA will still have its service, beginning at 10.30am.

College Rifles Service is also supposed to be that morning, from 9am. I am confirming this currently.

The link below provides more details including that the decision was made between Council and Police.
