My Kind Neighbour nomination
Since moving to Hillsborough 2 years ago we have had the pleasure of living next door to the most amazing neighbours.
David and Minnie Chung are the most generous, friendly, caring and entertaining couple we have ever met, they've lived in the street for most of their lives - 50+ years. They came to New Zealand as war refugees (from China) as young children - but this didn't stop them becoming a real Kiwi success story. After leaving school as a teenager David took over the running of and soon purchased a landmark local Fruit and Vege shop in Three Lamps, Ponsonby. Now long retired Fruit and Vege is still at their core - helping us and other neighbours with gardening and frequently giving away fresh fruit and vege (most of which they grow from their garden).
At the age of 90 they're an inspiration to us all.
Poll: Does the building consent process need to change?
We definitely need homes that are fit to live in but there are often frustrations when it comes to getting consent to modify your own home.
