Car broken Into

Marissa from Manurewa

Ok let’s do this again... not sure why my original post was deleted..

On Saturday morning I woke up to find an email from the bank saying they had blocked my card for fraudulent activity. I was confused 🤷🏽‍♀️ I walked out to my car in the drive way only to find that my passenger window was fully smashed and someone had broken into my car and stolen my wallet and cards.

Disregarding the fact that I had two car seats in the back and pictures of my daughters in the car. I feel so violated and disgusted that disrespectful people have come into our personal space and damaged our property and stolen money from my kids. The card was used at different gas stations in manurewa, they used about $270 before the bank caught on and blocked the card. My licence was also stolen, I think they were most probably in a car because they didn’t try and steal any of the other cars that were in our drive way. If anyone hears anything or by chance finds my licence please reach out.

I have reported this to the police and will be going to the bank in order to get time stamps for the police to view footage of the time the card was used.

This happened on Sturdee road between the hours of 2am-6am

Trucks Parking in Residential Streets

Greg from Takanini

How do people feel about truck and trailer units parking in our residential streets? Manuroa and Airfield Roads in Takanini are truck parks every night. This is a safety issue as trucks and buses cross onto the wrong side of the road to pass them. They also block sight lines for people leaving their properties and turning out of side streets. Parking beside reserves and playgrounds means children are stepping out from behind these vehicles to cross our busy streets. The empty flatbed trailer units are hard to see at night, especially in wet weather. There have been at least two accidents in Takanini, one fatal, involving cars hitting these trailers. The Takanini Residents Group have raised this with the Papakura Local Board and Auckland Council, but as these vehicles are legally parked, we are told there is nothing that can be done. I know this is a problem in other areas in South Auckland, so I would like to hear what people think about this issue.
