Freezing night for many as temperatures plummet

A cold snap combined with clear skies made for a bitterly cold night across the country, with temperatures dropping as low as -4 degrees Celsius.

The coldest temperatures were recorded in Alexandra and Cromwell.

Valid: 11 hours from 5:00pm Monday to 4:00am Tuesday.
Forecast: Northwesterly winds may approach severe gale in exposed places at times.

An update for severe weather will be issued by 10:00am Monday 16 Sep 2019.
