New 100kph road in New Plymouth - Whiteley Street, Moturoa.

Charles from Lynmouth - Moturoa

Not really but a silver Mitzi (possibly Evo model) has been doing this in Moturoa recently. Too fast to catch the license number. One neighbour thought 150kph but certainly 80-90kph is fairly common. Cars like to accelerate from Breakwater Road onto Whiteley then button off about Rainsford Street so they can slow down for Calvert Road. Please ring NZ Police on 105 if you can catch the culprit(s). If you know the person concerned perhaps a quiet word in their ear would suffice. This street is full of aging residents (many in at least their 80's) but interspersed with some young families. Opus and the NZTA were asked to address this before the Moturoa roundabout was up-graded but the recommendation was ignored. The same goes for speed restrictions on SH44.

We definitely need homes that are fit to live in but there are often frustrations when it comes to getting consent to modify your own home.
Do you think changes need made to the current process for building consent? Share your thoughts below.
