My Kind Neighbour nomination

Darnie from Dinsdale

They treat us like family! We love our neighbours Rob & Spencer. Over the years as our family has grown we have inherited bikes and scooters that Spencer has picked up from the dump shop for very little cost. As we zoom past and stop to visit he notices when a seat needs to go up a little higher or a tyre to be pumped up and grabs his tools. They've been our biggest cheer leaders as the kids confidence and skills have grown.
Spencers green thumb has taught me so much too! He's shared seeds, seedlings, grafted our apple tree, helped to prune and much more. Spencer has a persevering recipe for everything. When I call in he often gets me to taste test his latest jam, pickle or chutney then gifts me a jar, or to try Robs baked goods.
They often share surplus produce from their backyard as do we. I love that even though we have a 40+ age gap we have very common interests of being a little more self-sufficient. These kinds of neighbours have a wealth of knowledge to teach our younger generation! We're blessed to call them our neighbours.

Have you heard about this Hamilton petition?

The Team Reporter from Hamilton Press

A group of Hamilton business owners have started a petition to stop the council from hiking up rates and passing the cost of what they say are unpopular projects on to residents.

It frustrates longtime residents Tom Andrews, a former roading engineer who owns Classics Museum and has property interests and Jo Reeder, to see Hamiltonians facing large bills.
