New mayor for Ashburton
Neil Brown has claimed the mayoralty by 639 votes, ousting Donna Favel from her seat.
In second place was business owner Tony Todd.
Favel made it to third place with 2261 votes ahead of fourth candidate Leen Braam's 1360. Brown, who was born and raised in Ashburton, has been on the council for 15 years.
