Use a mortgage adviser or go direct to the bank?

My Money

If you get declined by a bank, it is easy to lose heart. It's better to let us review your scenario and help present you in the best light. Advisers carefully choose the most appropriate lender for your circumstances (and there are many out there), one which is unlikely to decline you.

In the last few weeks, we have encountered many clients who have been told to wait several days for an appointment with the bank which of course takes precious time, and you miss out.

On the weekend I received a call from a client who had rung a mobile bank manager and received no response until Monday at 9.30 am. The Television adverts may show the mobile manager coming to your door with all smiles but the reality is your best chance of receiving timely advice when you need it is a call to an adviser that knows you need an answer quickly or at the very least a 5-minute discussion around what is possible.

Another two clients contacted their own bank to make an appointment and were told they had to wait until Wednesday to see someone.

When you are competing with other buyers you can’t afford to be the last person the queue.
