Mindfulness and Upcycling

Melanie from West Harbour

Mindfulness is important and challenges us to think about what we consume and how we can make instead. It requires awareness and consideration of one’s thoughts, emotions, and actions. It’s time that we should all set aside, to question our purpose and values that have been instilled in us and to challenge the status quo.

Do we always need to buy new?
Is it really necessary to throw away a single-use item that can be reused? Is there any reason to purchase them, to begin with?
With landfills overflowing, where do you think all our trash will be in the next 5-10 years?

There needs to be more people being mindful, asking questions, and finding sustainable solutions that can be incorporated into our lifestyle, within our own means. We all have our own ways of being sustainable. The Re-Creators favourite solution is upcycling.

The Re-Creators brings upcycling workshops to communities and schools to teach them ways to make something beautiful using discarded materials and have fun in the process.
