Caretaker Superstar Wanted! (Approx: 2-4 hours p/w)

Manchester Unity Friendly Society - Eastern Lodge

We are proud to be New Zealand’s oldest traditional Friendly Society. We have been helping New Zealanders since 1842. The original idea behind a Friendly Society came about in the UK over 400 years ago. It was a simple, but highly innovative idea for its time. Part of that philosophy is providing affordable ways for our Members to holiday and we are seeking a Caretaker for our Mount Maunganui holiday homes.

We are after a caretaking superstar to provide changeover services between stays and maintain our units. Members are required to clean on departure, and bring their own bedding and linen.

Changeover services (between 10am-12pm) including but not limited to:

- Inspect the unit to ensure that the property has been left in good condition.

- Check that appropriate cleaning has been performed by outgoing occupants. If cleaning has not been completed by outgoing occupants, you will be required to notify Head Office and do the cleaning before the next occupant arrives.

- Review the feedback book, action any small maintenance requests (example: replace broken kettle) and notify Head Office of any big maintenance repairs required so we can organise a tradesman.

- Bookings are mostly week long (Fri-Fri) but you will also have the odd daily stays too so flexibility required.

- The caretaker may be required to provide ad hoc services outside of their hours should Members have urgent issues with the units.

Approx 2-4 hours a week, paid hourly rate.

Unelected commissioners recommend they stay in power

Pat from Welcome Bay

Interesting responses to my post. Two in particular piqued my interest. Suzanne Williams and her comments about whinging about everything-Suzanne it is not about whinging. It is more about raising concerns about an undemocratic regime forced on us and then seeing the commissioners wanting to keep their sinecure. Greg Reardon "I vote to keep the commissioners"-Greg the point is that you do not have a vote. Look I get it-democracy is imperfect. Some of our previously elected councillors were rubbish-ego driven and feeding from the trough (not unlike our commissioners). But it is what we have got. It is better to have an imperfect democracy than an unelected and unaccountable cartel of commissioners who say "we know what is good for you".
