We want to show Mark Taylor that his inspirational work really can make huge change and to keep trucking on! We are behind you Mark.

Auckland

"That's How We Row" aims to raise $100,000 for the NZ Heart Foundation and increase awareness about heart health and to promote wellbeing.

Groups of people around the Country have now come together to support this inspiring event.

Mark Taylor is the man behind this incredible concept. With a neurological disorder affecting his mobility, vision and health, Mark initially struggled even to use a rowing "erg". However, two years later he is aiming to spend 8 hours in the seat, targeting 100km and $100,000 for the NZ Heart Foundation.

Here is Mark's story....

We think Mark is incredibly inspirational here at SMASH FIT - and we were hugely honoured when he asked us to help him reach his fundraising target. SMASH FIT is the home of both Mark's wife and one of his daughters, so it was a very big "yes" from us.

SMASH FIT had a goal to fundraise for a defibrillator, so when this opportunity came up we decided to combine the two fundraisers - both in respect to heart health.

The funds therefore raised by SMASH FIT will be firstly put towards purchasing a defibrillator for the community of Papakura (located at New York Fitness) and the full balance will be donated to the NZ Heart Foundation in support of THAT'S HOW WE ROW!

Why should you sponsor us?

Our members are having to work super hard! They need to hold a rowing pace of 12.5km an hour to ensure they make 100km in 8 hours. This is a tough target but we know our members will put in the work and get the job done!

On top of having to secure sponsorship/donations, they are required to complete their full fitness programme week to week and now they have had to add 8 weeks worth of a structured row programme. This is on top of all of their normal everyday life commitments. They are doing all of this for something much bigger than themselves and it would be really special to see their hard work rewarded, and our local community benefiting at the same time.

Please support us and donate if possible.

We would also love to see you at our official event (donation required on entry):
