Life saving drugs needed for my beautiful wife

My name is Troy Elliott. It is with a heavy heart that I need to start this Givealittle fundraising page.

My beautiful and courageous wife has been battling her Stage IV Breast Cancer for just over 5 years. Tracey has not been simply surviving, she has been LIVING every one of those days since her battle begun! After over 60 rounds of chemo this shows she is a fighter.

Tragically this week we had the devastating news that the cancer has hit her brain very aggressively, in fact her whole frontal lobe is cancerous. Our brilliant Oncologist and his team have said there is only one option for Tracey and it is T-DM1 or as it is known commercially Kadcyla.

The twist is this drug is not funded by Pharmac, there is currently a lot of media around this and the Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Aotearoa Coalition are working hard to get Pharmac to change their mind and save the lives of women battling this horrible disease. This drug is currently fully funded in both the UK and Australia.

As this is an infusion and is not currently funded in NZ, we now have to go privately to receive the Kadcyla. Each infusion will cost us over $8000 and Tracey will need this every three weeks. Because Tracey has often needed 24 hour care this has really impacted on us financially and I am not currently working.

Many people have asked how they can help and we both have agreed that, no matter how small, all donations will help this battle.

We reluctantly started this page, even though we prefer to give than receive, as Tracey said 'you check your dignity in at the front reception when you are in hospital' If this drug is eventually funded and we have any money left these funds will all be donated to Breast Cancer charities.
