Rotorua home gutted by fire

UPDATE: The back rooms of a Rotorua home have been left completely gutted following a house fire.

Firefighters wre called to the blaze on Ford Road around 9am.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications shift manager Karren Larking says the fire was "well-involved" when crews arrived.

A witness in the area says it looks like the back rooms of the house were gutted.

"Smoke damage everywhere else.

"The fire service had blocked off the road to through traffic."

Multiple fire crews are battling a 'well involved” house fire in Rotorua this morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern communications shift manager Karren Larking says they were notified of the fire on Ford Road around 9am.

She says the fire was well-involved on arrival, but was unable to determine the exact size.

Two appliances are currently in attendance.

Rotorua Now will provide updates when they are available.
