Community stories

Hi, it's me, Candice Thum.

On a good day this is where I can be found, brainstorming at home.

On other days I'll be running around dropping and picking up the kids somewhere fun, pottering around the house and garden, working someplace else and trying to avoid the kitchen.

I like to write. I like to help people. I like to share stories. If you're up for it please share the journey with me.

I have lots of friends who write, all of them talented in their own fields. One particular friend, Jacqueline, is extra talented and she started her own blog for her own reasons, but essentially to support mummas of the world taking on side hustles. Her blog, Mother Gig, is full of inspirational stories, including her own. I felt blessed and honoured to feature some of my story with her. My story is not especially impressive, but the other narratives are.

Community storytelling is a prose I have only recently been exploring. My studies in Community Development and experience of writing lend nicely to helping tell stories of positive change from the inside.

'Knowledge from Kings' is a work I am particularly proud of. An amazing friend, Rebecca Harrington, and I worked on this while on university placement. Of the six storytellers, four have since passed away.

Please learn from their powerful stories here.
