The Salvation Army’s
Fiji Cycle Challenge 2019

As part of this incredible adventure, you will cycle beyond the beaches into the heart of Fiji, experiencing the vibrant culture and exploring what truly makes this country unique.

Over 10 days, you will embark on the adventure of a lifetime and help raise essential funds for Fiji. You’ll cycle into the unfolding countryside, passing colourful vegetable farms, sugar-palm plantations and lush fields of banyan trees along the way.

You will also have the very special opportunity to visit several villages and sites where The Salvation Army NZFTS provided emergency services during Cyclone Winston – and witness firsthand the life-changing work your funds make possible.

Every dollar you raise through this incredible adventure will go to The Salvation Army’s Pacific Emergency Fund, specifically for emergency response to natural disasters in Fiji.

When The Salvation Army responded to Cyclone Winston in 2016, the Army needed to fundraise for most of this support to be provided – a potential barrier to getting urgent support to people in greatest need. By creating the Pacific Emergency Fund, the Army can proactively build up funding for a Fijian emergency response, meaning that people in need get the right help at the right time.

It also allows The Salvation Army to ensure that their ten emergency containers spread out over Fiji, can be kept refilled in preparation for future disasters.

In addition to the emergency containers, the Pacific Emergency Fund will provide funding for other necessities such as building materials and psycho-social care. As part of the first proactive fundraising initiative for the fund, you will be ensuring support will be available to those who need it most.
