Could your home benefit from free curtains?

If you have a Community Services Card or a SuperGold Combo Cardholder (or you have someone with one living with you), or live in an area classified as a deprivation 8, 9 or 10 zone, in the Wellington Region (Ōtaki, Porirua, Paraparaumu, Hutt City, Upper Hutt or Wellington) you can get up to six pairs of curtains for your home.

About our curtains

We take pre-loved curtains that have been donated by the local community and provide them to low-income families and individuals in the Wellington Region.

The first thing we do is sort the curtains to make sure they’re mould free before we adjust them to fit your windows. We also make other adjustments, including making sure they’re double-lined for extra warmth.

Because all of our curtains are donated we can’t guarantee colours, however, we try our best to always provide neutral colours in the main living areas.

We know that many families cannot afford to buy quality curtains so we feel proud to be able to offer this as a free service.

Did you know that if you have a Community Services Card or a SuperGold Combo Card, you could be eligible for a free home energy assessment? You don’t even need to own your home to apply. If this is something you would like us to call you about, let us know at the bottom of the form below.

  • You can get free curtains from the Wellington Curtain Bank if you live in the Wellington Region (Wellington, Porirua, Upper Hutt, Hutt City or Kāpiti up to and including Ōtaki ) and:

    You have a Community Services Card or a SuperGold Combo Card, or

    • You have someone with a Community Services Card or a SupeGold Combo Card living with you, or

    • You have a child with a Community Services Card

    • You live in an area identified as a deprivation 8, 9, 10 zone

  • You can place an order online using the form at the bottom of this page or you can download an order form and send it to us.

    You can also pick up an order form from your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB)

  • We want you to feel proud of your curtains so of course, you can ask. We will do our best to meet your request, but it depends on what we have in stock.

  • Yes. We can provide curtains for any home with a Community Services Card or a home that is in a deprivation 8, 9 or 10 zone.

  • You can get curtains for your main living area. If you have children or elderly living with you, we will provide curtains for the bedrooms as well. We cannot provide curtains for your bathroom or laundry.

  • Sorry, we do not provide netting. We only provide double-layered curtains, and tracks (if you request them)

  • Your curtains will take up to six weeks to make. We will give you a call or an email to let you know when they are ready to be picked up.
