GrandFriends is a unique charity dedicated to creating meaningful connections
between aspiring grandparents and families who lack the presence of grandparents
in their lives. Our mission is to combat isolation, foster intergenerational
relationships, and provide support to families in need. As we embark on this inspiring
journey, we are seeking a dynamic and committed individual to serve as the Board
Chair, playing a pivotal role in steering our organisation towards success.

Key Responsibilities:

Governance Oversight:
  • Provide leadership to Board Members, ensuring adherence to the
    organisations' mission, vision, and values.
  • Uphold high standards of governance, ethics, cultural integrity and
    compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with the Board and Founder to develop and implement a
    strategic plan aligned with the organisations goals and objectives.
  • Drive initiatives that expand the charity's reach and impact in
    combating isolation and fostering intergenerational connections.

Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation:
  • Lead efforts to secure funding through grants, partnerships, and donor
    relationships to support the charity's programs and initiatives.
  • Engage with potential donors, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic
    organisations to strengthen financial sustainability.

Advocacy and Public Relations:
  • Represent GrandFriends in the community, fostering partnerships and
    raising awareness about the charity's mission.
  • Advocate for policies that support intergenerational relationships and
    combat social isolation.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
  • Work closely with the Board and Founder to establish key performance
    indicators and metrics for monitoring the success of programs.
  • Ensure the implementation of effective monitoring and evaluation
    mechanisms to measure impact.

Team Leadership and Development:
  • Provide guidance and support to the Board members, fostering a
    collaborative and effective working environment.
  • Facilitate training and development opportunities to enhance the skills
    and capacities of the Board.

Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated commitment to social impact, combating isolation, and
    promoting intergenerational connections.
  2. Proven experience in nonprofit governance, preferably in a leadership role.
  3. Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  5. Fundraising and resource mobilisation experience.
  6. Familiarity with issues related to social isolation and intergenerational
    relationships is an asset.

Time Commitment:
The Board Chair position requires a commitment of approximately 4-6 hours
per month, including attendance at regular board meetings, strategic planning
sessions, and occasional events.
