Making a difference in Taumarunui
Volunteer with usSPCA in the Central King Country is based in Taumarunui but covers a wide area around the town.
Unlike most SPCAs, Taumarunui does not have a physical Centre so all animals coming into care are placed in foster homes within the community or transferred to nearby Centres until they can be rehomed. All calls during opening hours are directed to our Taupo Centre.
Our Taumaranui Op Shop is run by committed volunteers and without the community’s support we would not be able to care for the number of animals we do. We are a small team and are always looking for more people to come on board and assist so please get in touch if you would like to help us make a difference.

All cruelty reports should be made by phone.
If you have an animal emergency please contact your local vet clinic or call our team on 07 896 6500 and chose the option for an animal emergency or welfare concern. If you have an animal emergency after-hours, please contact your nearest after-hours vet clinic. For any problems with stray, found or lost dogs, please contact the local council. Please contact the local police for any instances where an animal or person/s welfare is at immediate risk.
