About The Award

dawn johnston koru awardThe spiral shape of the Koru, the emblem of the “Dawn Johnston Koru Award” signifies new life, positive change, personal growth, symmetry, harmony and, above all, hope for the future.

The award was established in 2018 to recognise and pay tribute to a resident of Pakuranga, Howick or Botany who in the face of adversity has or is displaying perseverance in overcoming obstacles in the realisation of their goals and dreams.

Those who receive the annual award will be a New Zealand citizen residing within the Pakuranga or Botany Electorates.

Recipients of the award may be a person, persons or a group who have responded to adversity.
They will have demonstrated as has Dawn Johnston self-awareness, resilience, compassion and a desire to assist others becoming a full contributor to their community.
