About the Event

Autumn is coming! Although it certainly doesn't feel like it, longer evenings will be here in no time. Time to get out the craft materials, be creative, pick up some new skills and do something fun and a little different.

Needle felting has had a resurgence in popularity – and so it should! It is a fun, satisfying craft that allows anyone holding a felting needle to sculpt a fluffy piece of wool into a unique 3D mini sculpture. The process is straightforward, forgiving, and super versatile. There is no mess involved – and because all you need is a bit of wool, a felting needle, and a small piece of foam, this is a very portable craft.

In this hands-on crafty workshop, Faline offers an opportunity for kids 10 years and older to create a simple but very charming keyring ornament.

Participants will be introduced to the technique of needle felting, choose from a wide range of colours and then craft a little animal. They will be inspired– and if they haven't finished their project, they will walk home with their own felting needle so they can keep right on felting!

All of our workshops, but particularly the craft sessions, are a great way to connect with others in a relaxed atmosphere and learn a new skill together.

This session is creative and 100% hands-on and materials are provided. Please note that this session will take place at the former Riverside Café (now Komitimiti).

Limited to 8 participants; teenagers and children 10 years and older. Bookings are essential. Bookings close Thursday, 7th March at 2pm.

This workshop is proudly sponsored by the Riverside Community Trust. Please contact Tanja (at education@riverside.org.nz) for workshop questions or to ask about sponsorship options.
