Scout Leader (Churchward Park, Blenheim)

Scouts provides an adventurous outdoors education program to the youth of Marlborough, ages 5 through 18.

Based at the MDC reserve, Churchward Park, our Adult Leaders support the Youth by enabling them to take part in, and plan their own programs. Leadership and personal growth is the key. How much you need to do depends on the age of the Youth Section, with younger members requiring alot of support, older not so much.

As an Adult Leader, you will be able to develop your own skills in leadership, take part in fun adventurous activities, and have access to equipment and resources for personal use when not required for Scout usage. There will be options for personal development, and you will be part of a successful group of youth and adults, working towards the betterment of the Marlborough community. You will be provided with a uniform shirt and scarf, and once invested you will become part of a Worldwide movement with more than 40 million members.

Youth are split into sections based on age:
Keas - 5-7 years old (5:30pm - 6:30pm Tuesdays)
Cubs - 8-10 years old (6:00pm - 7:30pm Mondays)
Scouts - 11-14 years old (6:30pm - 8:30pm Thursdays)
Venturers - 15 - 18 years old (7:00pm - 9:00pm Fridays)

Requirements:
  • An interest to work with youth of different ages and abilities
  • Patience and kindness
  • An interest in the outdoors
  • Physical fitness - Some activities require a high level of physical fitness, but you are not required to do all activities, thus all Adult Leaders are welcome to apply, regardless of your level of physical fitness
  • Volunteers aged 18+ are welcome to apply
  • ✅ Volunteers will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 for this role.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Minimum is to attend 1 meeting per week during term times, or duration 2 - 3 hours in the evening.

Additional hours (planning meetings and camps) may be performed on a voluntary basis
