Lucy and Taryn can’t wait to welcome you to Lynfield’s safe haven.
There has been a steady stream of new residents at Murray Halberg Retirement Village since the big lockdowns last year, something Sales Advisors Lucy Caldwell and Taryn Eagle put down to the strong feeling of community that the village offers.
With the village being so new, the residents can set the tone according to their interests.
“We’re still evolving, so if you move in and you’re passionate about ballroom dancing, you can start a club,” says Lucy.
One resident is an avid Lego collector and every month puts his latest model out on display.
The recent family fun day held in the village saw dozens of children running up the stairs to see his latest creation on display, says Taryn. “It’s so nice!”
The happy atmosphere can often be seen in the popular village café especially when families come into visit at weekends.
“It’s just one of the many things we love about this village,” says Lucy.
The brand new Moller block recently opened and has some fabulous apartments on offer.
With a choice of sensational sea views, native bush, the Sky Tower or the village’s beautiful gardens, there’s something for everyone.
“That’s probably the hardest part - which apartment to choose!” says Taryn who like Lucy is expecting a lot more interest now that people can actually view what’s available.
The way Auckland’s property market has skyrocketed in the past year has just added to that ‘time is right’ feeling for moving into the village.
Says Taryn: “One of our residents bought off the plans 18 months ago and when it came time to sell her house she got hundreds of thousands more than she thought she would.”
The best thing is though, the prices at Murray Halberg have stayed the same as they were 12 months ago.
Lucy nods: “The thing I love about selling these apartments is the prices are so good for the current market.
“These were priced early last year and because we haven’t moved in line with the housing market - our pricing is due to be reviewed in April - people are getting exceptional value here.”
With pricing due to be reviewed in April, signing up by 31 March can ensure new residents lock in 2020 prices.
“The terms are so good, you just put a small deposit down now to secure your new home and then you’ve got six months to sell your property and settle,” says Lucy.
“In reality it will probably take only two months to sell in this market and all that extra capital can be put towards enjoying your retirement years instead!” adds Taryn.
The pair have noticed a particular surge among serviced apartment residents.
“The lockdown really emphasised that feeling of isolation and loneliness,” says Taryn.
“For some, their families had been supporting them a bit more than they realised and they decided they wanted that bit of extra assistance that the village offers.”
Taryn and Lucy say while the lockdown was of course restrictive, Ryman provided a safe haven for staff and residents.
From delivering essential groceries, to Happy Hour in a bag, everything was taken care of. The staff had a lot of fun with residents, who later gathered to put on a morning tea for the team to say thank you.
“That was such a wonderful gesture, it’s just a lovely, happy community – who wouldn’t want to be part of it?!” says Lucy. The final two top floors of serviced apartments are now available for viewing. With floor to ceiling windows for enjoying those magnificent views, it’s a case of ‘get in quick’!
Says Taryn: “There’s nothing I enjoy more than welcoming new residents and then seeing them so happy and settled, and enjoying life at Murray Halberg.”
