Devonport Dog Parade

Totally Sustainable Talks

Coordinated by Kaipatiki Project

An evening of enviro banter, inspiration and know-how from local community and thought leaders, followed by a networking function. This is a free event and is suitable for anyone who wants to make the planet a better place and meet others who do too!

Kaipatiki Project is a not-for-profit, community based organisation which exists to carry out ecological restoration and environmental education with communities across the North Shore and further afield.

Waste Minimisation and Innovation Fund (WMIF)

The next round of WMIF will be open from this Sunday, 1st April 2018 until Monday 30th April 2018


A wide variety of waste minimisation initiatives have been supported under the WMIF since 2013, with approximately $3.3 million being allocated to over 330 projects so far. 

Funding criteria, application guidelines and information about previously approved grants can be found on the Auckland Council website. Applications must be made online via SmartyGrants, a link through to the application portal will be accessible via the WMIF webpage once the funding round opens.
Funding workshops are available upon request should any organisations or communities within Auckland have interest in receiving in-depth information on the application and assessment process. Support and guidance is also available to applicants and grant recipients by phone, email, and face-to-face engagement should it be required.
 
The April round will accept applications requesting grants of between $250 and $5,000. A further funding round accepting applications requesting grants of up to $50,000 will be open in September 2018.

The Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra

Devonport Ryman Village invite you to a beautiful afternoon of string music by The Auckland Mandolinata Orchestra.

This amazing 25 strong Orchestra will evoke the full range of feelings we experience as they entertain us with semi classical music from Europe to the contemporary sounds of American, Latin and South American tunes. Achilles Reserve Working Bee

Help Restoring Takarunga Hauraki tackle some of the weeds that are starting to take over, including woolly nightshade, wattle and Tradescantia.

Bring gloves, sturdy footwear, and a spade, rake or secateurs if you have them.

Devonport U3A meeting

Heather Baigent was so bowled over by her big OE that she abandoned her teaching career for service with the Foreign Office, with postings to Samoa, Indonesia and China.

From those early days she has been heavily involved in helping to promote overseas the little New Zealand companies, not well known at home but whose wares, both goods and knowledge, are prized abroad. To make life easier for these exporters she set up her own company to facilitate the process. Last year Heather was named Exporters’ Champion by Export NZ in recognition of her services.  Come and listen to this inspirational speaker.

Intergenerational Dialogue 2018

When: Thursday 12 April, 10:30am - 2:30pm
Venue: Takapuna Library
 
The Intergenerational Dialogue is an annual local event that brings together young and old to discuss a range of topical issues and think about some local solutions. The aim is to advance intergenerational understanding and the sharing of ideas through lively conversation. The event brings together 25 young people from local schools with 25 not-so-young people.

Kaitahi Bayswater –Community Dinner

Write a personal ANZAC message on a poppy petal/disc, to honour loved ones who gave their lives in all wars. You will be able to view the Giant Poppy installation in the Depot Main Gallery from 26 April – 9 May.

Helen Pollock: A Moving Tribute
