Nearly There
We're getting closer to being able to open our doors again which is exciting to write. We look forward to welcoming you back to the house, once we're allowed.

Its been busy for us which means we have lots to tell you, make sure you scroll right to the bottom to find out.

Thursday night we had our AGM meeting and you can see our board members below. Please give a warm welcome to our new Chairperson, Aaron Clark, we are happy to have him on board.

Sadly due to Covid our Success Starts Here Event was cancelled in August. But thanks to Dress For Success we were able to give the clothes specifically chosen for each lady to them now. We thought that it would be a great boost for them to get the clothes during lockdown, especially as this has been a hard one for most. Last week we packaged up the clothes, goodie bags and hand-delivered them to our lovely ladies. The response was overwhelming and we have received some great pictures of the ladies in their new clothes. A big shout out to Charity Tea, Weleda, Living Nature & Clear Skincare for your kind donations for the goodie bags.

If things go well there are a couple of workshops at the end of November that hopefully can still go ahead, check them out below.  Along with these workshops are a couple of online classes that are fun for the whole family. We hope to see you on the zooms.

Make sure you follow us on Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with anything new at the house.

If there something that you'd like to see at your Community House in 2021, then we would love to hear from you.

Governance Board

Kia Ora koutou to the Highbury House whanau and broader Birkenhead community. My name is Aaron Clark and it is my great honour to be the new chairperson of the Highbury House board.
Growing up in Birkenhead and having lived within a few minutes of Highbury most of my life, I love being part of this community and am passionate about seeing it thrive and keep getting better for each generation.
My wife and I have three energetic girls that have had the most wonderful pre school years thanks to the one and only Highbury House ELC and it’s phenomenal teachers, and so hoping I can give back some of what we have gained through this governance and leadership role.
Outside of whanau time and supporting Highbury House I am a general manager for Genesis Energy focusing on technology and transformational project leadership.
I have been part of the Highbury House board since March 2020 and am excited to step into the chairperson role. A huge thank you to Sarah McGregor for the years of leadership she has given the Board and the great shape she got us into before passing the mantle.
I look forward to getting to know many of you better as Auckland opens back up and we can see each other again.
