Following are some notices for upcoming opportunities/events:

Scotty Brewer Skate Day

When: Saturday 25 November, 10:00am - 3:00pm (rain day Sunday 26 November)
Venue: Ngataringa Skate Park, 27 Lake Rd, Devonport

All ages welcome. U13, U16, opens and girls with great prizes. Sausage sizzle and icrecream for sale, drinking water and fruit provided – byo drink bottle!

Devonport Lions Santa Parade & Devonport Christmas Festival

When: Sunday 3 December, 11:00am - 3:00pm 
Venue: Windsor Reserve, Devonport Waterfront

The day's festivities commence with Devonport Lions Santa Parade, stepping off from Clarence St at 11:00am and then afterwards in Windsor Reserve until 3:00pm, Dance in the Park - a celebration of dance and music, the Devonport Craft & Fine Food Market - a market full of festive goodies, Devonport Volunteer Fire Brigade demos, food stalls, try out a segway and more!

Devonstock 2017

When: Sunday 10 December, 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Venue: Windsor Reserve (by the waterfront), Devonport
Cost: FREE, all ages, smoke-free and alcohol-free

An amazing array of talented young musicians will be rocking out at this year’s Devonstock Music Festival! This year’s lineup includes the smooth, funky rhythms of Molly & The Chromatics, up and coming indie-rockers Dirty Pixels, local hard hitters Slipstream, talented singer-songwriter Freya, Theo Sawyer’s dynamic and engaging acoustic pop, and youthful local rock combo Neon Flame
The festival is organized by the Devonport Youth Forum to showcase the music of young artists. All ages can experience local music and summer sun for free and enjoy the food stalls at this smoke-free and alcohol-free event.

Summer Fun Preschool Play

When: Tuesdays 9:30am -11:00am at Windsor Reserve, Devonport, Thursdays, 9:30am -11:00am at Bayswater Park, Bayswater
Cost: Free

A FREE fun time for preschoolers to play with big toys, be active and to make new friends. Bring your toddler and a coffee and enjoy our beautiful parks! Caregiver supervision is required and sessions are weather dependent. 
Starting Thursday 2nd November until Thursday 14th December 2017, resuming Tuesday 9th January until Thursday 29th March 2018.

Bike to the Beach

Family fun ride from Devonport Wharf to Narrow Neck Beach

When: Sunday 19 November, 11:00am start
Venue: Meet at Windsor Reserve Playground

Get your bikes out of the shed and ready for summer. An easy, 2.7 km ride on off-road, shared paths - ideal for small people and new riders. Free sausage sizzle. Free Safety Checks. Lolly Scramble. Prizes for best dressed bike & rider. A free event organised by Bike Devonport and supported by Auckland Transport.

Afternoon recital w/ violinist Ray Ong

With pianist Dr. Sarah Watkins

When: Sunday 19 November, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
Venue: Auckland Christian Assembly, 26 Albany Highway, Glenfield
Cost: Donation $10pp or $20 for family is appreciated

All proceeds will go towards education in Pakistan for bricklayers' children and the Philippines Feeding Programme.

Epilepsy information evening

When: Tuesday 21 November, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
Venue: Potters Park Event Centre, 164 Balmoral Road, Balmoral

This is an opportunity for anyone affected by epilepsy including parents, family / whanau members, friends, and carers to have all those questions answered. Company Theatre presents Deathtrap

A comedy thriller by Ira Levin, directed by Kate Birch

Open Day at Bayswater Marina

When: Saturday 25 November, 11:00am - 2:00pm
Venue: Berth Holders Lounge (next to Bayswater ferry terminal), end of Sir Peter Blake Parade, Bayswater
Information about potential development, opportunity to provide feedback and sausage sizzle. Please note: This is a marine environment. Children must be supervised by adult caregiver at all times.

Have your say on the future use of the land at Bayswater Marina. The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board and Bayswater Community Committee (BCC) jointly wish to understand your views and feedback on the future use and development of the Bayswater Marina precinct. They will be seeking your feedback through a survey. The survey will be available on the day. It will also be delivered to Bayswater letterboxes and be available, from Saturday 25 November, online from the Bayswater Community Committee Facebook page or email: bayswater@xtra.co.nz.

Herb Fairies Academy

When: Saturday 25 November, 10:00am to 11:30am
Venue: Ngataringa Community Garden, 27 Lake Road
The Ngataringa Community Garden (NCG) creates an amazing environment to teach children the almost forgotten knowledge and skills of how to use the medicinal properties of herbs for health, enjoyment, understanding and respect for nature and to experience “hands on” environmental sustainability.

Herb Fairies Academy is a series of workshops for children aged 5 - 10 designed and run by Eva Scherer herb guru and NCG gardener. First session: Melissa Fairy, maximum number of participants 10. Please RSVP to Eva Scherer: eva@evascherer.com.

Remember that November

When: Sunday 26 November, 2:00pm
Venue: Devonport Library, 2 Victoria Street

On 28 November 1893 women voted for the first time. The legislation that granted women the franchise passed in September and women had less than ten weeks to enrole to vote. 84% of eligible women did so. Of those enrolled, 82% cast their vote. Business on Toast

With guest speaker Murray Jones

Murray Jones will be speaking about his long and successful involvement with the America’s Cup. He is famously remembered for the fact that he has been a six times America’s Cup winner, and was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 2010.

Street Get-Togethers

Devonport Peninsula Trust has some funding available to encourage people living in the Devonport peninsula area (Devonport to Hauraki Corner) to get together with their neighbours to develop neighbourhood connections.
