Devonport Community Network Meeting
 

When: Thursday 13 May, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Where: Devonport Yacht Club, 25 King Edward Pde, Devonport (wheel chair accessible)

This quarterly meeting is about promoting networking among residents and local community groups. The session commences with complimentary morning tea and a chance to network informally followed by guest speaker Giovanni Coco from the School of Environment at Auckland University: You may have heard recently about coastal buildings in New Zealand becoming uninsurable over the next few decades due to climate change. Giovanni will be talking to us about the type of work they do to predict flooding under climatic changes for the whole of New Zealand and then look at the implications for Devonport.

Zero Waste Events Grant 
 

Keen to make your event zero waste? Thanks to Auckland Council and EcoMatters, grants of up to $200 are now available to help reduce waste sent to landfill at community events.
 
Applying is quick and easy and we’ll let you know within seven working days if your grant is approved. 
 
You can use the funding for expenses such as renting zero waste equipment like cutlery, crockery or bins, paying for compostable packaging or recycling and food waste collections, or buying vouchers to thank waste volunteers.

Devonport Easter Market

Devonport Market would like to invite everyone back for another Fun-Filled Family Market Day at Windsor Reserve!
There will be lots of new stall holders as well as firm favourites from last month. 
The Great Zaktackular will be back to entertain children and parents alike, and there will also be live music from Charlotte and Evan to enjoy while you shop.
This will be the last outdoor Summer Market of the season.

Stanley Bay Stampede

Where: Stanley Bay Primary School, 15 Russel Street
Cost: From $10 - $25

The Stanley Bay School Stampede is back! Happening on Sunday 30 May, 10am-1pm, challenge yourself on the 1.5km obstacle course for kids, adults and families, and then slip and slide into their giant mud pit!  Starting and finishing at the school, do as many laps as you dare!  There will be lots of fabulous spot prizes plus there is going to be an epic raffle.  Find all the information here. ​

Intergenerational Dialogue 2021
 

When: Thursday 13 May, 10:00am-2:30pm
Where: Takapuna Library, 9 The Strand, Takapuna
Cost: Free

The 10th annual Intergenerational Dialogue brings 25 young people from local high schools and 25 older adults together to discuss a range of topical issues. The dialogue is all about enhancing connection and understanding.
The organisers are looking for older adult participants and topic suggestions from the community to discuss at the moment. If you’d like to be involved or have an idea for a local issue to discuss, please get in touch with Sarah Thorne on 094862098 or email office@takapunatrust.org.nz .

Second Hand Records has celebrated seven fantastic folk releases over the last few years but it is time to bring the Second Hand brand to a close. Starting off as a folk news site and presenting phenomenal international tours it’s time for the next chapter for Finn and the team. On the 10th of May they present an evening of special guests to thank you for supporting their many gigs, releases and tours.

Trans Atlantic Sessions Down Under

On the first first Friday of every month, you are invited to come along to listen to and play music and song from the Appalachians to Liverpool, from Dunkeld to Dunedin! All welcome.

The Gracie Roots program is a play based learning program which contributes greatly to children’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being.

Jennifer Huebert - Sea Habitué: Adventures in freediving

This body of work captures split seconds in the experiences of free diving and snorkelling, engaging the viewer by drawing them close with intricate textures and patterns. These works express the wonders of the ocean, prompting people to think about their understanding of marine life.

Polounine's work focuses on colour, light, shadow and form as the main visual concerns. The perception and experience of what we see has been the conceptual undercurrent that informs Polounine's practice.
Through their work they ask us, what do we focus on, what do we glance over, how do we experience and interpret a certain place, and how is that different from another's experience?

North Shore CMA meetings


When: Thursdays, 10:00am - 12:30pm
Where: The Rose Centre, School Rd, Belmont
Come along and make some new friends, share some stories, play some games. Approved ACC strength and balance exercises run every week for all abilities.
​Listen to visiting speakers, do some gentle exercise. Share morning tea and lunch with friends and so much more…..All for a nominal charge – transport can be arranged. North Shore CMA are also seeking volunteers at their CMA centres throughout the North Shore. Help needed with crafts / cooking / driving and other tasks.
