Spiders & Flies
Having a fear of spiders is quite normal and you may be asking why is my property infested with spiders? Spiders survive by eating other insects, so when you've got other insects (flies, moths etc) you're likely to have spiders.
Some spiders actively hunt, whereas others are more passive, using their webs to ensnare the prey.
The spider that is most feared in New Zealand is the White Tail. There are two species of White tails found in New Zealand, the one most commonly found in the South Island is Lampona murina. Measuring up at 28mm on average the White Tail is identified by is long, slender body and it's distinct white spot at the tip of the abdomen, right above the spinnerets.
